Oscar/Beste Filmmusik
Mit dem Oscar für die beste Filmmusik werden die Komponisten der Filmmusik eines Films geehrt. Besonders im Bereich der Musik für einen Film gab es im Laufe der Jahre die unterschiedlichsten Bezeichnungen für die einzelnen Kategorien, beispielsweise Music (Scoring), Music (Original Score), Music (Scoring of a Musical Picture), Music (Music Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture), Music (Music Score - substantially original) und noch einige andere. Diese Entwicklung resultierte oft auf dem sich wandelnden Geschmack der Kinogänger (beispielsweise die Hochkonjunktur für Musicals in den 60er-Jahren) Seit 2000 gibt es die Kategorie Original Score neben der Kategorie Original Song.
