Roxen has been reported to be one of the three shortlisted artists to represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 as part of broadcaster Romanian Television's (TVR) collaboration with Global Records for the selection.

Early life and career

Born in Cluj-Napoca, Roxen discovered her passion for music at the age of seven.[1] Signed by Global Records,[2] she was featured on Romanian producer Sickotoy's "You Don't Love Me" in August 2019.[3] The single attained commercial success in Romania, reaching number three on the country's Airplay 100 chart,[4] and being playslisted by radio stations in several territories including France, United States, Russia and Spain.[1] Her debut single "Ce-ți cântă dragostea" was released in the November of the same year, and peaked at number 32 in Romania.[4]

In early February 2020, it was reported that Roxen was one of three artists shortlisted to represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020; broadcaster Romanian Television (TVR) had collaborated with Global Records for the selection. The representing artist will be announced on 10 February 2020.[5][6]

Artistry

Roxen's primary genre is deep house.[1] Multiple observers have compared her music style and appearance to that of Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish.[7]
