Career
Giovanni Spampinato was an Italian journalist for the L'Ora, a communist newspaper. After Angelo Tumino was killed, Spampinato began to investigate the murder and dig deeper into the Sicilian Mafia. He was covering a story on a Roberto Campria who had worked with the Mafia to kill Tumino. During this time, he was leaking information about the Mafia in great detail.Vorlage:Citation needed
L'Ora eventually ended in 1992 after being around since the early 1900's.Vorlage:Citation needed
(Still in the process of trying to figure out more details)
Death
Vorlage:Location map+ After Spampinato kept reporting on Campria's work with the Mafia, he followed Spampinato into the suburbs and shot him eight times with a revolver on the night of October 27, 1972 in Ragusa, Italy. Campria then stated that he acted out in a fit of rage due to Spampinato falsely accusing him of his Mafia work. Campria was supposed to go to jail for 14 years but instead only went for eight and went to a criminal asylum.Vorlage:Citation needed
