Maxx is a deutsches eurodance project. The bandname is an abbreviation for „Maximum Xstasy“[1] (maximale ekstase). It had its greatest successes with the two dancefloor hits Get-a-Way and No More in 1993 and 1994, which were also internationally successful. Get-a-Way sold more than 400,000 records in Germany, so the single reached Gold status. More than 1.1 million units were sold in Europe. No More nearly sold the same number of records and became a major Top 10 hit in Europe. The two hits were followed by further releases, but with which the group could not build on its previous successes.
The project was founded in 1993 by music producer Jürgen Wind and music industry executive David Brunner. The two had previously teamed together to release Another Night by M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy under Hansa Records (BMG Berlin). When developing Get-a-Way under Blow Up (Intercord), songwriter Bruce Hammond Earlam (von Bruce & Bongo) helped them to develop the Maxx concept while also discovering the artists and. Earlam had discovered Maxx rapper Boris Kler (Gary Bokoe) early in 1993, wrote his raggamuffin rap lyrics and taught him how to rap in the raggamuffin style. Due to contractual issues with EMI, he could be not officially be tied to Maxx and therefore went uncredited. Wind produced the music and wrote the chorus lyrics with his co-producer Frank Hassas. Brunner mapped out the marketing, promotion and sales strategies. He later secured the naming rights to Maxx.[2] The entire team used the aliases in the music/text credits to avoid problems with Hansa/BMG and to stay anonymous. Wind was George Torpey, Brunner was The Hitman and Hassas was Dakota O'niel. Brunner was credited as Executive Producer _______________. Olaf Jeglitza (rapper of M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy) was listed in the credits as Dawhite due to his affiliation with Wind's music production company Freshline Records. In reality, Jeglitza had no involvement in the production or songwriting of Maxx. The team used the name „The Movement“ for the production credits. After recording the choruses for Get-a-way, session-singer Samira Besic split off shortly thereafter. In the accompanying video, the singer was portrayed by the dancer/model Eliz Yavuz (Alice Montana) who also briefly served as a frontwoman for the project. British singer Linda Meek was discoverd by Earlam early in 1994. She recorded vocals for the follow-up hit No More and the album To The Maxximum. In 1995, the project had disbanded after the release of the last single Move Your Body.
On 15 Marz 2014, Köhler perofmred as Maxx at a nightclub in Seinäjoki, Finland with a unknown singer.[3] That same year he did additional performances at nightclubs as Maxx with other unknown singers. Two years later, he appeared again with at the Velodrom in Berlin, Germany.
Late in December 2016, Wind started an official Maxx website announcing his reunion with Meek (now known by the singer name „Elyse“) and Brunner. The website revealed their new plans for an relaunch of Maxx without Köhler's involvement and a new European tour in 2017 with only Meek involved. Beginning in 2017, she started performing as Maxx at small nightclubs in Eastern and Central Europe using different rappers each performance. On August 8th, 2017, Köhler did his final live Maxx performance in Katowice, Poland as "Gary B. from Maxx." Today, Meek continues to tour across Europe as Maxx using her team of changing rappers to perform the raggamuffin style rap verses on stage.

[1] Real McCoy is a German Eurodance project that was internationally successful in the mid-1990s with the crossover hits Another Night, Run Away, Come and Get Your Love, Love and Devotion and One More Time and the multi-platinum album Another Night. The name „Real McCoy“ is a special English phrase, and is named much like („the one and only truth„).
Projektgeschichte
The project was the result of a collaboration between rapper Olaf Jeglitza (O-Jay), music producer Frank Hassas (Quickmix) and music producer Jürgen Wind (J. Wind). In the late 1980s, the trio had made various music productions together under their production company Freshline Records. Traditionally, Jeglitza was given special producer credits alongside Wind and Hassas. In reality, he strictly had a rapper/songwriter role on the team. In 1989, ZYX Records CEO Reinhard Piel commissioned the team to create a cover-rap version for the Technotronic hit Pump Up the Jam for Germany. The new version of the single was released under the project name M.C. Sar & the Real McCoy. The single reached number 16 in Germany. [1] Wind took over the mangent of Freshline and became the Executive Producer of the project. A follow-up single titled It's On You was released in 1990. A Frenchman of African descent named Georges Mario (Shampro) was hired to be M.C. Sar and to act as a frontman and rapper for the project. Unbeknownst to the public, Mario was really a lip-sync artist that had been hired to mime the rap vocals of Jeglitza for live performances and music videos. Singer Patricia Petersen sang the choruses on the single and fronted the project with Mario. It's On You was a top hit in Germany and had earned Silver status in France. An album (On the Move ...!) and four more singles followed (Don't Stop, Make A Move, No Showbo, Lets Talk About Love ). The new releases all failed to build on the previous successes of the first two hits. By 1992, the Freshline team had discontinued their relationship with ZYX.
Another Night
The end of 1992 saw the conclusion of a new, exclusive contract between Freshline and Hansa Records (BMG Berlin). Wind immediately began planning out a success strategy for the project with Hansa's A&R boss David Brunner and BMG's President Andy Selleneit. The three then made a creative decision to change the musical style of the project to Eurodance and Pop. Wind and Hassas wrote and produced the new single Another Night while Jeglitza wrote his rap verses. For the female choruses, a producer duo known as the Berman Brothers provided their session singer Karin Kasar. In exchange for her participation in the project, the brothers made a deal with Wind to be listed as producers on Another Night as „Freshline & The Berman Brothers.“ The brothers also made a deal with Wind to be remixers for the project. A mix created by the brothers was selected to be the official single version of the song. Petersen officially remained the front woman and mimed Kasar's vocals for live performances and music videos. Mario was removed from the project and Jeglitza was promoted to the role of frontman and rapper. Due to Wind's desire to remain away from the spotlight, Brunner is listed as Executive Producer under the alias „D.N.B.“ When released in Germany in Summer 1993, Another Night had peaked at No.18 in Germany and was only a minor Top 20 hit in Europe. Shortly afterwards, Wind and Hassas had produced the Maxx hit Get-a-way under Intercord. The single was released October 1993 and became a major hit alongside the growing success of Another Night.
Thanks to the promotional efforts of BMG Canada, Another Night suddenly became No.1 on the Canadian RPM charts in the Spring of 1994. Wind and Brunner produced the follow-up singles Run Away, Automatic Lover and the album Space Invaders while continuing to produce music for Maxx. The success of Another Night in Canada and the associated growing airplay at U.S. radio stations, which were on the border with Canada, motivated Arista Records to release Another Night in the U.S in August 1994. The name "M. C. Sar " was deleted from the project name, and the single was only released under the shortened project name of Real McCoy. Thanks to clever marketing and promotional efforts Arista and BMG, Another Night became a platinum hit in the U.S. and Australia while also earning Silver status in the United Kingdom. The single also ranked No.1 in the U.S. on the eternal all-time list of the mainstream Top 40 charts. Run Away was released in the U.S. as a follow-up single and had reached Gold status
For this purpose, a new version of the Space Invaders album was put together for a U.S. release by Arista. The new version was re-titled Another Night and consisted a mixture of songs from the Space Invaders album and all new songs. Artista CEO Clive Davis brought in a new team of producers to write and produce three new covers (Come and Get Your Love, Ooh Boy, If You Should Ever Be Lonely) sand an one original track (Sleeping with an Angel) for the album. The new production team included: Songwriters Billy Steinberg & Rick Noweles, Producer Shep Pettibone and the Lemon Productions team (Per Adebratt, Douglas Carr & Tony Ekman). Singer Vanessa Mason was added to the project's thus making Real McCoy a trio act. Brunner was again listed as Executive Producer while the Berman Brothers were listed as producers. Upon release in 1995, the album quickly reached No.13 on the U.S. Billboard charts and was also awarded double platinum status. In the United Kingdom and Australia, it came in No.6. The cover single Come and Get Your Love was released as a third single release in the U.S. and had reached No. 1 on the charts.
One More Time
In 1997 the follow-up album One More Time was released. Kasar, Hassas, Brunner and Petersen were no longer involved the project during the production of the album. Singer Lisa Cork was recruited as Petersen's replacement. Wind produced the new album with the Lemon Productions team (Adebratt, Carr & Ekman) and songwriter/producer Brent Argovitz. The Berman Brothers produced a Shania Twain cover for the album while also making remixes for the singles. For promotional reasons, Jeglitza was credited as an Executive Producer on the album in addition to Clive Davis. The lead single from the album, also titled One More Time, reached No.3 in Australia and achieved Platinum status but saw lesser success in the U.S. peaking at No. 52 on the charts. The follow-up singles "I Wanna Come (with You) " and the Shania Twain cover "If You're Not In It for Love (I'm Outta Here)" were all commercial failures.
In 1998, BMG re-released the Space Invaders album under the title Real McCoy: Love & Devotion. That same year, Petersen teamed with Brunner and a different production team to release her solo rap single titled Money 4 Me.
Breakup and continuation
In 1999, Wind produced a new version of the original hit It's On You and a new song Hey Now with an all new artist lineup. The new version of It's On You was released in __ 1999 and charted at _____ in Canada. On 1 December 1999, Jeglitza trademarked the name Real McCoy. Hey Now was later released in the Spring of 2000 . Jeglitza tried again with many reshuffles as Real McCoy without Wind and Hassas, a new start, but it succeeded in the episode no longer to build on the previous success.
Comeback
in _ 2016, Wind trademakred the name M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy. In the same year, Jeglitza head teamed with Kasar to tour as Real McCoy in Europe and America.[2]
