Emoji – Der Film
Emojimovie: Express Yourself is an upcoming American computer-animated adventure comedy film directed by Tony Leondis and written by Eric Siegel and Leondis. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the film will be released on August 11, 2017 by Columbia Pictures. The film, along with Smurfs: The Lost Village and The Star, will make Sony Pictures Animation the second animation studio to release three feature films in the same year.

Production
On July 21, 2015, it was announced that Sony Pictures Animation had won the bidding war, against Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures, of an animated film centered on emoji, based on the script by Eric Siegel and Tony Leondis, with Leondis also directing the film. Michelle Raimo Kouyate would produce the film.[4] At 2016 CinemaCon, the film was officially announced and it was revealed that it would be set in the digital world in a smartphone.[5]
In July 2016, T. J. Miller was announced[1] as lead Emoji Gene in a tweet by Sony Pictures Animation[6] on World Emoji Day.
In October 2016, It was annouced that Ilana Glazer and James Corden will be joining the cast as well.[7]
Release
Emojimovie: Express Yourself is scheduled to be released on August 11, 2017 by Columbia Pictures.[8]
