Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed is an author, born in London of Bangladeshi origin.
Ahmed is critical of USA foreign policy and the creation of proxy wars that he asserts were the result of manipulation by both the U.S. and the former USSR in Afghanistan. He describes how countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq "ha[ve] been plunged into a state of perpetual humanitarian catastrophe."
In his opinion, Bush Administration was "criminally negligent" on September 11, 2001, as evidenced by an indifferent response to initial reports of the attack. He concludes the Afghanistan invasion occurred because the Taliban were too unstable for the construction of pipelines.
He posits that the so-called "War on Terror" is conducted within the framework described by the influential Zbigniew Brzezinski who "envisaged that the establishment, consolidation and expansion of US military hegemony over Eurasia through to Central Asia would require the unprecedented, open-ended militarisation of foreign policy, coupled with an unprecedented manufacture of domestic support and consensus on this militarisation campaign."
