Chester Kallman

Chester Kallman (* 7. Januar 1921 in Brooklyn; † 18. Januar 1975 in Athen) war ein amerikanischer Schriftsteller.

Leben

Kallman wurde als Sohn von Edward Kallman, eines Zahnarztes aus Brooklyn, und dessen Ehefrau Bertha, einer Schauspielerin, geboren. Seine Mutter starb, als Chester sehr jung war und sein Vater heiratete erneut. Kallman ging später eine Beziehung mit dem Schriftsteller W. H. Auden ein, mit dem er bis zu dessen Tod zusammenlebte. Über diese Beziehung schrieb die Schriftstellerin Thekla Clark ein Buch mit dem Titel Wystan and Chester.
