Die Tribute von Panem – Catching Fire
Vorlage:Infobox film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is an upcoming 2013 American science-fiction dystopian thriller/action-adventure film based on Suzanne Collins' novel Catching Fire, the second installment in The Hunger Games trilogy and is the sequel to the 2012 film The Hunger Games. The film is scheduled to be released on November 22, 2013[1] and is directed by Francis Lawrence,[2] with a screenplay from Simon Beaufoy and Michael Arndt. Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen, with Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, and Willow Shields also reprising their roles.
Plot
After returning home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) try to forget their time in the arena. But all is not well in the districts; rebellion is simmering. As they embark on the Victors Tour of the districts, Katniss has to prove to the Districts that her act to save both herself and Peeta in the arena was not that of defiance against the Capitol, but one of love for him. Meanwhile, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, otherwise known as The Quarter Quell, to try and remind the districts who is ultimately in control.[3]

Production
Pre-production
Lionsgate announced that a film adaptation of Catching Fire will be released as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on November 22, 2013,[17] as a sequel to the film adaptation of The Hunger Games, with principal photography to take place in September 2012. Simon Beaufoy was hired to write the script for the film and wrote two drafts [18] before leaving after Gary Ross, director of The Hunger Games decided not to direct the sequel. The shooting timeframe was co-ordinated between Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox, in order to allow time for star Jennifer Lawrence to shoot X-Men: Days of Future Past, the sequel to Fox's X-Men: First Class, in January 2013.[19] The success of The Hunger Games has become Jennifer Lawrence's breakout role, but she admitted that it took her three days until she accepted the role of Katniss Everdeen. In an interview, she said that "the size of the decision was terrifying."[20] Known for doing indie movies as opposed to studio movies, her mother called her a hypocrite for previously saying that, "the size of the movie doesn't matter", convincing her to take the role, which she now does not regret.[20]
On April 10, 2012, it was announced that Gary Ross, director of The Hunger Games, would not return due to a 'tight' and 'fitted' schedule.[21] Bennett Miller, Joe Cornish, Francis Lawrence and Juan Antonio Bayona were all being considered to direct the new film. [22] On April 19, 2012, it was announced that Francis Lawrence was offered the director position for the film. According to sources, the adaptation must be done filming by December 2012 to fit Jennifer Lawrence's schedule.[23] However, after X-Men: Days of Future Past lost its director, Lawrence was no longer needed to be filming in January 2013 and the shooting timeframe for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was extended to March (including several breaks due to the holidays and awards season). Lionsgate officially announced Francis Lawrence as the director for Catching Fire on May 3, 2012.[24] Two days later, it was reported that Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) is in talks to re-write the script for Catching Fire.[25] On May 24, 2012, the film was renamed The Hunger Games: Catching Fire[26] and Arndt was confirmed as the new writer of the script.[27] The film will feature sequences filmed in the IMAX format.[28]
Casting
In July 2012, it was announced that Jena Malone would portray Johanna Mason,[29], Amanda Plummer would portray Wiress and that Philip Seymour Hoffman would portray Plutarch Heavensbee.[30] Following this up, in August 2012, it was released that Lynn Cohen would be cast as Mags,[31] Alan Ritchson was cast as Gloss.[32] Sam Claflin was officially cast as Finnick Odair on August 22, 2012.[33] Jeffrey Wright was cast as Beetee on September 7, 2012.[34]
Filming
Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth all dyed their hair for the movie once again. Lawrence went back to training to get in shape for the role [35] while the supporting cast undertook training in preparation for the arena scenes.
Production officially began on September 10, 2012 with shooting concluding for some of the cast on December 21, 2012.[36] After the Christmas break, filming resumed for two weeks in mid January for some of the main cast [37] and stopping for awards season. Principal photography is expected to resume and end in March, 2013. [38] Shooting first took place in and around metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia and then moved to Hawaii, to shoot the arena scenes.[39] In October 2012, composer James Newton Howard confirmed that he will return to score the film.[40] In an interview with MTV, Josh Hutcherson confirmed scenes in the film will use IMAX cameras by stating, "they're shooting, I think, all the stuff in the arena is going to be IMAX".[41]
Marketing
On November 16th, 2012, the first teaser trailer was released with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 and revealed the official logo and tagline for the film.[42] Lionsgate announced a sweepstakes competition where 12 fans will have their name listed in the film's credits. Entertainment Weekly released a 2013 Preview edition of their magazine, with the first look of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Sam Claflin as Finnick on the front cover as well as several stills showcasing several scenes from the film. [43]
Sequels
Lionsgate announced that it will split the third installment of the series, Mockingjay, into two films, with Part 1 hitting theaters on November 21, 2014, and Part 2 on November 20, 2015.[44] On November 1, 2012, it was confirmed that Francis Lawrence will be back to direct the two final films.[45] On December 6, two-time Emmy winner Danny Strong confirmed that he will be writing the two part finale.
