Peter S. Kalikow (b. December 1, 1942) is the present chairman of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority[1], having been appointed by New York Governor and fellow Republican George Pataki in 2001. Kalikow was reappointed in 2006 to serve a second term.

Prior to his current career, he started working in real estate in 1967. He went on to become the president of one of New York City's leading real estate firms, H.J. Kalikow & Company, in 1973. He was the third generation of a 75 year-old family firm.

Kalikow had a short stint as the owner of the New York Post, following in the footsteps of media giant Rupert Murdoch. He is also known for his renowned Ferrari [2]collection.

In 1994 he served on the MTA's board, upon the recommendation of Democratic former New York Governor, Mario Cuomo. Peter Kalikow Will Step Down In 2nd quarter of 2007 as MTA Chairman
