This is the list of cats that have resided in 10 Downing Street, home of the British Prime Minister. These cats have been given the nickname of "Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office" by commentators.[1] Note that the cats tend not to belong to the Prime Minister in residence. In fact it is rare that the Chief Mouser's "term of office" coincides with the Prime Minister's. One cat, Humphrey, led to release of information under the Freedom of Information Act to verify that he was still alive.[2]
