"Take a Bow" is a song written by R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and recorded by pop singer Rihanna. Added to a re-released version of Good Girl Gone Bad, the song was the fifth single from that album.

Background and composition

"Take a Bow" is a pop and R&B song written by Rihanna's label mate [Shaffer Smith], who she previously worked with on "Unfaithful" and "Hate That I Love You". Stargate, who are behind a number of Rihanna's singles, produced the song.

The premise of the song is based around a female's point of view as her boyfriend is attempting to apologize. The female sarcastically responds to her boyfriend for being "very entertaining" and "take a bow".[1] Despite the soft tone, the song is considered to be tongue-in-cheek.

Single release

The song was premiered on KZZP and KRQQ's JohnJay and Rich in the Morning on March 14, 2008,[2] and was made available to media outlets later that same day.[1] The song will be added to an augmented version of her 2007 Good Girl Gone Bad, scheduled for release on May 27. It is currently 25 on Mediabase.

Rihanna was seen filming the music video for "Take a Bow" in April 2008. Pictures can be seen at her website http://www.RihannaUpdate.com
