The Rated R Tour is an upcoming concert tour by Barbadian singer Rihanna to supporting her fourth studio album Rated R starting April 16, 2010. The first tour dates were released by her official website on December 9, 2009.[1]
About the tour
Rihanna confirmed her 2010 tour to MTV News on December 3, 2009. "We gonna be going on tour in the spring and the tickets are going to be up for presale in a couple weeks, actually," she told MTV News on the set of her "Hard" video. "It's going to be a worldwide tour, so it's going to be a very long tour. We'll definitely be in your city, so look out for that."[2] On December 9, 2009, Rihanna announced new dates for the tour. Jamie King will serve as the tour director who has previously worked with Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Madonna, The Spice Girls, Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera and Avril Lavigne . Rihanna enlisted Simon Henwood as the creative director for Rated R. He designed the logo and conceived the brand and styling of the album, videos and TV spots. He will contribute to the forthcoming tour, including the show's stage design, costumes and background visuals.[3]
The stage design for Rihanna's promotional concert in London was described as "A futuristic scrapyard", as there were many television sets and dummies on stage. It was aimed to look very futuristic in the theme of her new album. The stage design for the main tour is yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to be very similar to the promotional concert, but on a bigger scale.
Rihanna's new image has been described as more 'sexy' than before. At the promotional concert, Rihanna wore a tight black leotard. The fashion for the main tour is expected to be very similar to this. Rihanna is expected to release new tour dates soon as the tickets for the tour are selling out fast.
