Vorlage:Infobox Officeholder Cecilia Elena Rouse (born August 18, 1963), is a U.S. economist, currently serving under President Barack Obama as a member of the Council of Economic Advisers.[1] Rouse is currently on leave from Princeton University, where she is the Theodore A. Wells '29 Professor of Economics and Public Affairs.
She has also been a senior editor of The Future of Children and the Journal of Labor Economics.
Prior to serving in the Obama administration, Rouse served in the National Economic Council under President William J. Clinton from 1998 to 1999.
Formal education
Rouse received her Ph.D in economics from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude in 1986 and then staying on to obtain a doctorate in economics in 1992. She then became a professor of economics at Princeton University the same year she graduated.[2]
Personal life
Rouse attributes the development of her educational career to traveling and exploring as a young child and the "importance my parents placed on learning." Her brother and sister hold Ph.Ds in physics and visual anthropology, respectively.[3]
Growing up in Del Mar, California, Rouse’s mother worked as a school psychologist.
