Vorlage:Infobox actor Beate Marie Eriksen (born 19 October, 1960) is a Norwegian actress and film director. She is the granddaughter of Olympic gymnast Marius Eriksen, and daughter of World War II flying ace Marius Eriksen, Jr.[1] She is also the niece of alpine skier Stein Eriksen, and is married to actor Toralv Maurstad.[2]
Career
Beate Eriksen graduated from the Norwegian National Academy of Theatre in 1985. Since her graduation, she has worked both at Oslo Nye Teater and at Riksteatret, as well as doing freelance work at Nationaltheatret (the National Theatre) and other theatres.[3] She has also acted in television roles, most prominently the soap opera Hotel Cæsar.[2] In 2000 she also started working as director of the series, as the first cast member ever to take on that role.[4] Currently Eriksen teaches drama at the Steiner School in Bærum.[1]
Personal life
Eriksen married fellow actor Toralv Maurstad on New Year's Eve 1999, when she was 39 and he was 73.[5] In 2001, Eriksen's application for adopting a child was rejected because Maurstad was considered to be too old. According to Norwegian rules, people who intend to adopt a child should be between 25 and 45, and Maurstad was 74.[6]
