Stefan Themerson

Stefan Themerson (born Płock 1910, died London, 1988) was a Polish writer, film-maker and philosopher.
Stefan and Franciszka Themerson produced animated experimental films firstly in Warsaw (such as Apteka in 1930) and then in exile in London during the 1940s (such as Calling Mr Smith and The Eye and the Ear).
They published books through their own Gaberbocchus Press from 1948 to 1979, most of them with Franciszka's . Among those books were works of Guillaume Apollinaire, Kurt Schwitters, first editions of Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi, Raymond Queneau's Exercises in Style and The Good Citizen's Alphabet by Bertrand Russell. The latter wrote warm preface to Themerson's Professor Mmaa’s Lecture.
