The Revolution Smile was formed in March of 2000 in Sacramento, CA. After the demise of Epic/Immortal Records recording artists Far, guitarist Shaun Lopez scored 2 films, Black Friday (released in 2001), and 42K (released in 2003) and did some remix work. He briefly played in an early version of Rival Schools headed by former Quicksand frontman, Walter Schreifels. Shortly after, he auditioned for various bands, including the Foo Fighters, which led him to realize he wanted to front his own band. Thus, The Revolution Smile formed. In November of 2000, The Revolution Smile released At War With Plastic, a 6 song ep produced by Shaun, and released on Animation Records. The CD got worldwide distribution, and the band started to gain notoriety. Geffen planned to remix and release We Are In This Alone, but the band wanted to make a new record. July of 2002, The band entered the studio with Dave Sardy (Marilyn Manson, Far, Jet) and Shaun, co-producing. What became of this was Above The Noise. In January 2003, Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Jeff Buckley, At The Drive-In) mixed Above The Noise, and the band began touring, playing alongside, Deftones, Chevelle, Dredg, The Music, Marilyn Manson, Korn, and many others. September 2003, The Revolution Smile toured Europe w/ Deftones and A Perfect Circle. They were also musical guests on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Shortly after, Jeremy and Tim parted ways with the band.
