Blaxploitation ist ein Filmgenre aus den 1970ern. Es wurde von vorwiegend schwarzen Schauspielern und weißen Produzenten geprägt, die den Markt der schwarzen Kinobesucher erschließen wollten. (black=schwarz, exploitation=Ausnutzen, Ausbeuten). Als ihre Stars galten der Regisseur Melvin van Peebles und die Schauspielerin Pam Grier (u.a. Coffy (1973) und Foxy Brown (1974)). Der wohl erfolgreichste Film dieser Ära ist Shaft, basierend auf den Romanen von Ernest Tidyman, in denen erstmals ein Schwarzer die Hauptrolle hatte und mit weißen Frauen schlafen durfte.
