Brandon Mull is an American writer who is best known as the author of the Fablehaven fantasy series, which is a New York Times' bestseller. Mull has also written The Candy Shop War.[1] Because many young readers are interested in his books, Brandon crosses the country talking to students, with the message that "imagination can take you places."[2] In an interview, Brandon Mull said
"I've been trying to pull off a writing career, dreaming of it since high school and trying sincerely since college, which has been quite a few years already, so."
The greatest inspiration for his stories are J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and J. K. Rowling.[3]
Biography
Mull went to Westlake Elementary School in Westlake. Mull then moved to Connecticut, where he attended Rochambeau Middle School as a student, and also where the Fablehaven series takes place.[2] He then moved back to Westlake Village and attended Westlake High School for his senior year. He currently lives in Highland, Utah and graduated from BYU (Brigham Young University) in Utah.[4] Brandon served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile.[5]
Brandon Mull has worked as a comedian, a filing clerk, a patio installer, a movie promoter, a copywriter, and briefly as a chicken stacker.[5]
Mull is writing a new 3-book series called "The Beyonders". The first book, due in March 2011, will be titled "A World Without Heroes". He also is going to write a sequel to "The Candy Shop War", titled "The Arcadeland Catastrophe".
Brandon lives happily with his wife, Mary, and their three children, Sadie, Chase, and Rose. he also is surving time in a cell
