Brahan Castle was a castle that was situated near Dingwall, in Easter Ross, Scotland. The castle belonged to the chiefs of the Clan Mackenzie who dominated the area. It was the scene of the Jacobite risings as well as the religious struggles that took place in the Highlands. The castle was also the place where the Jacobite Mackenzies became the first defeated clan who were forced to surrender and swear allegiance to the English Crown. The building was demolished in 1951.[1]
