According to Muslims, Al-Safa is one of the 2 hills (the other being Al-Marwah) that Hajira (Hagar), concubine of Ibraheem (Abraham), ran to and fro between in order to search for food and water when she was left by Ibraheem on demand of his wife Sara, with her son, Ishmael, to fend for herself in the forests of Mecca. Allah (God) provided for her with the miraculous surge of water from Zam Zam, the spring of Mecca.
