Golden Globe Award
Die Golden Globe Awards sind jährlich verliehene Auszeichnungen für Kinofilme und Fernsehprogramme.
Die Verleihung wird seit 1944 von der Hollywood Foreign Press Association organisiert. Sie gilt - nach den Academy Awards (für Film) und den Emmys (für das Fernsehen) - als zweitbedeutendste Auszeichnung. Über die Vergabe bestimmt eine Gruppe in Hollywood arbeitender internationaler Journalisten.
Es ist üblich, dass bei der Vergabe der Preise die Elite Hollywoods zugegen ist. Allerdings - im Gegensatz zum Academy Award - in einem formelleren Rahmen und mit Verköstigung.
Die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gibt ihre Entscheidung für die Academy Awards kurze Zeit nach der Bekanntgabe der Golden Globe Gewinner bekannt. Viele Filmemacher in Hollywood streben Golden Globe Nominierungen und Auszeichnungen auch deshalb an, weil es die Entscheidung der Academy beeinflusst.
Von 1944 bis 1956 war die Verleihung der Golden Globes auf Filme beschränkt. Seit 1956 werden auch Fernsehproduktionen ausgezeichnet.
Der Golden Globe wird in verschiedenen Kategorien vergeben:

- Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama

- Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

- Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
- Best Original Song - Motion Picture
- Best Original Score - Motion Picture
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama
