Mod DataBase（或称Mod DB）是一个专注于电子游戏模组的网站，2002年由Scott "INtense!" Reismanis建立。[2]截至2015年9月，Mod DB已有超过604万次的访问，超过12500个登记在案的模组，[3]超过108万次的下载。[4]同类[註 1]网站Indie DB在2010年上线，专注于独立游戏。

目的

Mod DB的目的是收集各种游戏的模组、文件、教程与介绍等由用户创建的内容。Community involvement is strongly encouraged, and any game mod with a website is allowed to post a screenshot gallery, news, and requests for help. Scott's intentions, from the beginning, were to get the community heavily involved in the creation and development of the website. To this end, the most active members were chosen as moderators and administrators. The core staff generally remain the same, while lower positions are heavily rotated among trainee moderators, and administrator candidates. The site's staff mostly act as chaperones or librarians, keeping appropriate content available to the public and featuring the more exceptional content.

历史

2007年9月，ModDB进行了大修并将版本升级到了第四版，包括将Addon DB整合进Mod DB，重大增强则有注册游戏的选项与更好的私信系统。

2010年，DBolical公司的Indie DB网站上线，专注于独立游戏开发。[6]

2011年，Mod DB在“收到相当多的威胁邮件，因为人们认为我们是创建者、支持者和制作者”之后移除了一个名为“School Shooter: North American Tour 2012”的《半条命2》模组[註 2]。[7]

年度模组

Mod DB的年度模组竞赛“金扳手奖”旨在评选富有创造力的、高质量的模组。评选是通过社区投票和工作人员的评测来得出最终结果，此竞赛旨在鼓励所有领域的（包括画质与游戏性在内的）模组开发。
