Area code 817 and 682

Area code 817 is a telephone area code in the U.S. state of Texas. It covers the central northern part of Texas, including the city of Fort Worth and its surrounding areas. It was created in 1953 when it was split from area code 915. It was overlaid by area code 682 in 2000.
