Real-time Transfer Protocol (a.k.a. RTP) is a transport-layer network protocol for delivering audio and video over IP networks. RTP was developed by the Audio-Video Transport Working Group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (a.k.a. IETF). It was first published as RFC1889 in 1996, superseded by RFC3550 in 2003. RTP typically runs over UDP.
