Unicode

Unicode is a standard for computers to make the capable of showing text in different languages. Unicode standards are created by Unicode Consortium. Their goal is to replace current character encoding standards with a world-wide standard which supports all languages. There are more than 100'000 characters in the latest defintion of Unicode.
