In electrical engineering and computer science, image processing is a kind of signal processing. When some images are read(or recognized) by tools like a camera, they are changed into data that computers(or CPUs) can read. So the computers(or the CPUs) can perceive and utilize them. By using this processing, computers or machines like robots with tools of image processing can "see" around them.

Image processing usually means digital image processing, but it includes optical and analog image processing.
