Albeiro Rodas, known in Cambodia as Samnang, was born in Amalfi town, Antioquia Village, Colombia Republic, South America, on October 10, 1970. He is the son of teacher Reinaldo Rodas and Mrs. Lilia Torres and he has a younger brother, William.
He studied journalism in the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB) of Medellin City (1989-1995).
He joined the Catholic religiuos of Don Bosco (Salesian Family) in 1997.
He was since a child an active member of the Boy Scouts and participated in dramma groups and youth movements of his country.
In 1999 he was sent to Cambodia to work in Don Bosco Phnom Penh until 2001. After that he went to Israel to study Bible. In 2005 he returned to Cambodia to work in Don Bosco Poipet.
He knows also Ecuador, Spain, Malta, Egypt, Jordan, Italy, France, Ireland, Thailand, Vietnam and Phillipines. For this reason he calls himself "El Viajero Paisa": "El Viajero" is "The Traveller" in Spanish and "Paisa" is the way in Colombia they called the people from the Paisa region.
In 2000 he published in Medellin his first book "The Lotus Flower" in Spanish: a story among Colombia and Cambodia about a flower that unites the heart of a group of young people. Actually the book uis being translated in Italian, English and Khmer.
Father Samnang has wrote other books that await to be publish all about young people, cultures and stories of dialy life.
Nowadays he coordinates the program of Social Communication in the Don Bosco Center, Poipet, Cambodia. The students do subjects as Internet, computer, English, journalism and social work.
