សាកលវិទ្យាល័យ​កម្ពុជា ត្រូវ​បាន​បង្កើត​ឡើង​នៅ​ថ្ងៃ​ទី​ 23 ខែមិថុនា ឆ្នាំ2003។ ​សាកលវិទ្យាល័យ​នេះ​មាន​ទីតាំង​ស្ថិត​នៅ​លើ​ផ្លូវNorth bridge សង្កាត់ ទឹកថ្លា រាជធានីភ្នំពេញ ដែលមាន​លោក​បណ្ឋិត​ '''កៅ គឹមហួន'''(Dr. Kao Kim Hourn) ជា​ប្រធាន​សាកលវិទ្យាល័យ។ ហើយ​លោក​ក៏ជា​​រដ្ឋលេខាធិការនៃក្រសួង​ការ​បរទេស និងសហប្រតិបត្តិការអន្តរជាតិកម្ពុជា និង​ជាទីប្រឹក្សា​លោក​នាយក​រដ្ឋមន្រ្តី​ ហ៊ុន សែន។ គាត់​បាន​បង្កើត​សាកលវិទ្យាល័យ​នេះពេល​ដែល​គាត់ត្រលប់​មកពី​សហរដ្ឋអាមេរិច​វិញ។ សាលា​បាន​ប្រើ​ប្រព័ន្ធឥទាន​អាមេរិច​ធ្វើ​ជា​គំរូ ហើយកម្មវិធី​សិក្សា​​ត្រូវបាន​បង្រៀន​ជាភាសា​អង់គ្លេស (International Track) ។ កម្មវិធី​ដូចគ្នា​មួយចំនួន​ត្រូវបាន​ចាប់ផ្ដើម​ ប៉ុន្តែ​បង្រៀន​ជា​ភាសា​ខ្មែរ។ អធិការបតី​គឺ​លោក​បណ្ឌិត​ Haruhisa Handa ដែល​ត្រូវ​​បាន​គេ​សំគាល់​ថា​ជាសប្បុរសជន​ជនជាតិ​ជប៉ុន។

សាកលវិទ្យាល័យ​នេះត្រូវបាន​រៀបចំ​ផ្ដល់នូវ ថ្នាក់​បរិញ្ញាប័ត្រ ថ្នាក់​អនុបណ្ឌិត និង​ថ្នាក់​បណ្ឌិត តាមរយៈ​មហាវិទ្យាល័យ​ចំនួន​6គឺ មហាវិទ្យាល័យ សិល្បៈ និង​មនុស្សសាស្ដ្រ(the College of Arts and Humanities) មហាវិទ្យាល័យ អប់រំ( College of Education) មហាវិទ្យាល័យ ច្បាប់( College of Law) មហាវិទ្យាល័យ គ្រប់គ្រង( College of Management) មហាវិទ្យាល័យ វិទ្យាសាស្ដ្រ និង​បច្ចេកវិទ្យា​(College of Science and Technology) និង​មហាវិទ្យាល័យ វិទ្យាសាស្ដ្រ​សង្គម(College of Social Sciences)។ ក្រៅពីនេះ​នៅមាន​វិទ្យាស្ថាន និង​មជ្ឈមណ្ឌល​ចំនួន​6​ទៀត​រួមមាន Institute for Research and Advanced Studies (IRAS), Institute for Technical and Professional Training (ITPT), the Asia Leadership Center (ALC), Center for ASEAN and East Asian Studies (CAEAS), Center for International Studies (CIS), and Center for English Studies (CES). It awards Bachelor Degrees (three terms/year means that these can be done in as little as three years), Master Degrees and Doctorate Degrees.

The school's establishment of the Asian Economic Forum (AEF) in May 2005 and the Asian Faiths Development Dialogue has raised the profile of the university internationally. The AEF acts as an independent forum for "promoting policy dialogue on major issues facing Asia at present and in the future, with the aim of bringing together important policymakers in various fields, as well as leading scholars and researchers, eminent thinkers and educators, and leaders in the private sector, youth and civil society." The growth of human knowledge, economic progress, and environmental sustainability are high on the forum's agenda.

The University, a private entity with due accreditation accorded by the Accredition Committee of Cambodia has a total enrollment of about 5,000 with both men and women. It is a non profit organization and has a variable staff strength of 50-99.

អាហារូបករណ៍

The University offers three types of scholarships at the undergraduate level which are both aimed at excellence in scholastic performance to set standards and also to encourage needy students who have shown promise for higher education after high school. These scholarships are categorized as; the Academic Excellence Scholarships for outstanding students as the name suggests which are merit based with specific stipulations on performance; Scholastic Aptitude Scholarships specific for students who have the desire and aptitude to purse university education but lack financial support and hence 50% fees is exempt ; and Partial Scholarships are for those students who are judged to be suitable for further studies but can not afford to pay the fees,

ធនធាន

With a collection of more than 50,000 books, magazines, newspapers, and periodicals, the university's Toshu Fukami Library is considered to be one of the best in Cambodia. UC's publishing company is the University of Cambodia Press. As of 2009, the school has been introducing e-learning for some of its programs.

Michael Haas, Professor Emeritus at University of Hawaii, is the Chairman of the university's International Academic Advisory Board. UC student Noun Pichsoudeny, the youngest student writer in Cambodia and the author of four published novels, is also a member of the Khmer Writers' Association. The Hong Kong actor and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Jackie Chan received an honorary doctorate degree from the university in 2009.
