- Devaining means removing the Gastrointestinal tract of a shrimp, you do this by slicing open the back of the shrimp. Still, if you want to learn how to prepare shrimps, I think you should do a google on "how to prepare shrimp". You don't open an encyclopedia to look it up. Delete.
