Johnny Cage

UGO.com listed Johnny Cage fourth on their list of the "Top 11 Mortal Kombat characters", and later twelfth in a revised "Top 50" list, stating that while the character served as "comic relief", "there's nothing better than kicking somebody's ass with a fighter that's supposed to be a joke".[1][2] GamesRadar called him one of best aspects of the 2011 Mortal Kombat title, stating he is "undoubtedly a dick (only a dick would tattoo 'Johnny' across his chest), but he plays it so well that it's impossible not to like the guy". They further added that without the character, the "ridiculous" plot would feel too sincere.[3]

Liu Kang

UGO.com ranked Liu Kang first on their list of the "Top 50 Mortal Kombat characters", praising his role in the series' storyline as well as his attack speed and power.[4]

Mileena

UGO.com listed Mileena fifth on their list of the "Top 11 Mortal Kombat characters", and later second in a revised "Top 50" list, stating that while the series is abound with female characters in "slutty clothing", she was unique as an evil character at a time when portrayals of women as such was "frowned upon", adding that her brutality and revealing attire made the character a fan favorite.[5][6]

Raiden

UGO.com listed Raiden tenth on their list of the "Top 11 Mortal Kombat characters", and later ninth in a revised "Top 50" list, praising him as "one of the iconic characters of the franchise".[7][8]
