Jonathan Dean Welch (February 4, 1962 - October 17, 2011)was an American opera singer and musical evangelist. Welch performed as a soloist with such companies as the Metropolitan, the Lyric, Orange County and San Diego, as well as with the Vienna, Hagen and Weisbaden Staadsopern, La Scala, the Royal Scottish Opera and the Tokyo National Symphony, among others. In addition to his classical repertoire, he and his wife, Ilona, recorded several albums of gospel music, which they performed in churches all over the world.
