Just your typical free software developer. I got into Linux after seeing it on a friend's laptop. I started off with Red Hat Linux 7.2, which I used for maybe three years, then moved on to Debian and have been very happy with it. Windows XP is still lying around, which I use periodically to play Windows-specific games.

I started programming around maybe seven or eight with Visual Basic 1. After learning the basics of that, I managed to maintain several Visual Basic, QBasic, and Commodore 64 BASIC programs at the same time. Later my dad got me Visual Basic 5 for my birthday, and Visual Basic 6 came several years later from a friend I met on a Keynote tour.

After installing Linux I began learning Perl and since have abandoned Visual Basic as a maintainable programming language. After Perl came C, then PHP, and then Java. I received formal C# training at Anderson University, though much of the language I learned out of the classroom while experimenting with Mono.

In August 2006 I started learning Dvorak. While I haven't tested my WPM, it feels like I can type the same speed with Dvorak and QWERTY, and I get faster at Dvorak every day. I absolutely love the layout.
