When I get a chance, I will expand this significantly. There are a lot of interesting old experiments using the technique (coupling two animals together), some info to add about probe design (concentric probes, miniaturized probes, etc), different variations, then the advent of low-flow push-pull (demonstration in awake animals by Shippy et al, sampling from the vitreoretinal interface by Shippy et al, on-line sampling with peristaltic pumping by Kennedy et al, offline sampling with high temporal resolution by Kennedy et al) Pts925 (talk) 18:41, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
