Comment - "usually not done on WP" - everyone is free to look at the pages given in the RM (Category:Districts of Abkhazia, Category:Districts of Belarus, Category:Districts of Kazakhstan, Category:Districts of Transnistria) and then to decide if the claim by Tony1 is justified by truth or not. Additionally: districts/municipalities in Georgia : Category:Districts of Georgia (country) and elsewhere in WP, cf.: USA Washington County, Belarus Minsk District, Ukraine Desnianskyi District, Kiev, Kazakhstan Abay District, East Kazakhstan, Vietname Thoại Sơn District, Iran Asara District, Russia Dmitrovsky District, Moscow Oblast. 78.55.225.61 (talk) 00:12, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose and RM the other articles in the category (and the subcategory names): If you see the original Cyrillic, the word we're translating as "district" is not capitalized. and also for articles about entities that have other type names including but not limited to the following 100 categories:

Support. Using lowercase "district" (or a similar entity identifier) is not the norm at all. Yes, MOSCAPS instructs to avoid unnecessary capitalization, but customary English usage puts article titles of this kind very much out of the "unnecessary" territory. Lowercase here looks odd, is not supported by sources (or at least no one has bothered to point them out), and I see no convincing argument for why it should stay that way. How this is handled in the Georgian or Ossetian languages is very much irrelevant, as this is the English Wikipedia. Also, consider consistency. Even if you think capitalizing or not capitalizing the entity identifier falls into a grey area of Wikipedia guidelines, in absence of a convincing argument either way, it still makes sense to choose an approach that's most similar to what's being used elsewhere, if only to minimize maintenance.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); November 14, 2017; 21:35 (UTC)
