InPhase Technologies (a venture of Bell Labs/Lucent) and Optware both have announced plans to come out with holographic storage media in 2006. Initially, they will be marketed for industrial users due to the relatively high price tags, but will likely diffuse to the general consumer market. There is more detailed discussion of the differences between these two companies (as well as holographic video and displays) at Holoforum.com. A smaller, third company in this field, with several early patents, is Collosal Storage (http://colossalstorage.net).

Here's a news story, if anyone wants to incorporate it: http://news.com.com/Maxell+focuses+on+holographic+storage/2100-1015_3-5973868.html 69.161.13.68 23:16, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
