It -is- a media access protocol, because it controls the timing of transmissions by the radios, in order that they share the radio channel more efficiently. The fact that a redundant collision-detection system continues to operate at a lower level (the standard 802 scheme) is not relevant. Ray Van De Walker (talk) 03:18, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
