timeout problem

The discussion of the idle timeout problem could use some references. The heartbeat patch to which it links was last updated in 2006, so is unlikely to work with modern openssh versions.

Modern openssh versions have some builtin heartbeat functionality: http://www.openssh.org/faq.html#2.12 but the watchdog patch appears to have been maintained even after that feature was introduced. So perhaps the two features are not orthogonal.
