Too specialised

This particular text needs to form part of an aritcle on Linear forms in logarithms or Transcendence theory: it's far too specialised as it stands. The term auxiliary polynomial occurs in other branches of mathematics. Richard Pinch (talk) 08:51, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite

I rewrote everything, at last. The article is a bit example-heavy at the moment but I feel that's necessary since auxiliary functions can't really be defined except by seeing a bunch of them and saying Look! They're auxiliary functions! The last couple of sections need more detail but I'm pretty sure that can wait till morning. Chenxlee (talk) 06:05, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
