Edit request by JimCubb

{{editprotected}} Could a colon be placed after the double left-brackets and before the word "Category" so that the page does not appear in the Category? It should be Category:Pages with DEFAULTSORT conflicts. Thank you.

JimCubb (talk) 19:07, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That wouldn't properly fix it, it would just remove all pages from the category. The correct fix would be [[<noinclude>:</noinclude>Category:Pages with DEFAULTSORT conflicts]] or <includeonly>[[Category:Pages with DEFAULTSORT conflicts]]</includeonly>. ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 19:16, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I sit corrected. Could that change be made?

MediaWiki pages do not behave in the same manner as normal pages: it is confusing to think of this message as being 'transcluded' onto pages. The message is parsed by the interface in a completley different process. I will investigate on another wiki to see if the includeonly tags function on this message, as there is no guarrantee that they will. Happymelon 19:50, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
<noinclude> and <includeonly> tags do not function on this message, so this request is not possible. Happymelon 19:54, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I knew there were likely some differences, but I've never played with the MediaWiki namespace much (on an external wiki, since I'm not an admin here), so I had no idea what those differences might be. ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 20:44, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suppress category on user pages

I propose to stop populating the category for pages in the user namespace. These are mainly user sandboxes and we do not need fixing up — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:45, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
