Anyone aware of the results of NUS elections over the last two years cannot deny that the influence of Student Unity has declined. Perhaps you could point out what exactly (or even better, change it yourself), in that chapter is NPOV or factually inaccurate, without just chopping it all out or simply posting that box at the beginning of it. - Well, clearly it is more than premature to speak of the 'decline' of Student Unity. Certainly, the faction has much less influence than it did several years ago, but it is absurd to argue that the faction is in any way coming to an end and that is non-NPOV. - 192.43.227.18 02:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
There is no 3 year deal with Qld. The deal the Victorian side of Unity did with the NSW side was a 2 year deal- NSW supported Victoria in 2005 and Victoria supported NSW in 2006. It would seem Victoria honoured that deal.
- I'm happy to remove any references to a "3-year deal". But my understanding was that Ryan Hamilton still challenged Michael de Bruyn in 2005, and Josh Rayner still challenged Camden Gilchrist in 2006. I'll make some changes, make some more if you want, without just blanking the whole section. Ben Raue (Talk) 02:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I refer Ben to the "Verifiability" policy:
- Articles should contain only material that has been published by reliable sources.
- Editors adding new material should cite a reliable source, or it may be challenged or removed by any editor.
- The obligation to provide a reliable source lies with the editors wishing to include the material, not on those seeking to remove it.
Hence, the entire 'Decline of Student Unity' section has been removed pending the finding of reliable sources. - King Rod 02:12, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I have put the Decline secition back up, with references. All of this student politics stuff is very hard generally to verify, and by that sort of application you would have to delete all material relating to the National Union of Students and student politics in Australia.
Anyway, there definately was a 3 year agreement and it was reneged on by Vic and SA. Gilchrist was definately preslected over Raynor, and then lost the election to Chuk. There is no doubt concerning any of these facts.
OK, I may be wrong about there not being a 3 year deal - but that's a 3 year deal between QLD, SA and VIC. I know that VIC signed a deal with NSW in 2005 whereby they agreed to support NSW in 2006 (and NSW agreed to support VIC in 2005 giving De Bruyn Gen Sec). That is, VIC ratted on QLD and SA.
