New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello Coderzombie,
- Source Guide Discussion
The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.
- Redirects
New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.
- Discussions and Resources
- There is an ongoing discussion around changing notifications for new editors who attempt to write articles.
- A recent discussion of whether Michelin starred restraunts are notable was archived without closure.
- A resource page with links pertinent for reviewers was created this month.
- A proposal to increase the scope of G5 was withdrawn.
- Refresher
Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

- @SHISHIR DUA: I am not sure what you are asking me here. Can you elaborate? Coderzombie (talk) 11:05, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
- Please tell me the way how can I access the names of the pages that I translated form foreign languages to English.
- @SHISHIR DUA: How did you translate them? What tool you did you use for translation? If you did copy-paste from Google Translate, there's no way of confirming them. You can ask help at Wikipedia:Teahouse Coderzombie (talk) 11:46, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

About Manjappada
It's a independent article from Kerala Blasters FC so please don't redirect the page or how you can help to keep the content — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamfrzu07 (talk • contribs) 02:03, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
ISL
If bridge is not a reliable source then what reliable source do you refer to. Can you reveal it? Shaurya 102 (talk) 14:29, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Shaurya 102: Wikipedia information relies on primary sources. In this case, it has to be announced by either ISL or by club themselves. Only then it can be considered official news. Coderzombie (talk) 17:03, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
Chhetri
Hi, how are you doing? I hope family and friends are doing well.
Well coming to point, I am thinking of working on the Chhetri article to make it a GA or probably I will go for FA. So since it's a big article and lot of info, so can you join me in it if you are interested and if you can't you can also give valuable suggestions regarding the article. Thank you. Dey subrata (talk) 20:56, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Dey subrata: that's a great idea! The article used to be GA, but it was demoted because it became outdated. Would be a good start to take the GA version as the base and build from that in terms of his career since then for club and national team, that'd serve as a good template. Coderzombie (talk) 04:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- Well, lets see...but I think I can make it suitable enough for FA, lets see how it goes. But I will need your help, will appreciate if you join. I have all resources on his international matches since gathered everything during the FL nom of List of goals but my headache will be the club history, I may miss few info since resources are very scattered and reliable source can be a problem in some case. So what do you say...if you join I think we can continue the conversation when required at the article talk page. I am starting with the lead, I have seen lot to fix in the lead. - @Saranakku: That's why there's undo option. Try to restore the original version rather than complete removing it. Coderzombie (talk) 04:52, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
Regarding Indic Scripts
Hi, I noticed one of your messages on the Indian articles manual of styles regarding the blanket ban on Indic scripts. I wholeheartedly agree with you statements and believe that the blanket ban is a regressive decision taken solely out of spite and racism towards India and its culture. I would like to discuss this issue with you in detail so we can figure out how best to bring about a positive change in this aspect. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Debitpixie (talk • contribs) 09:47, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020

Hello Coderzombie,
- Your help can make a difference
NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.
- Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate
In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.
- Discussions and Resources
- A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
- Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
- A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
- Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.

Manjappada Kerala Blasters Fans is nominated for deletion
- can you please explain to me what's the reason for the deletion and redirection. I think they need an independent Wikipedia article. Iamfarzan (talk) 11:01, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
ISL tier status
Hey! This discussion on WP:Football was started but has stalled. It is about the status of the ISL and I-League. Are they dual top tier leagues or just ISL now. Would love to know your opinion as well. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 13:08, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
The Juggernauts (Ultras) deletion
I don't think it's promotional. They're a supporters' club of an Indian Super League club. A fan club which has gained a lot of popularity through its vocal fans since its inception. It is an organisation linked to the Odisha football club, i.e. based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. SaUp2014 (talk) 17:21, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
Hey! I was looking for articles to base 2019–20 Hyderabad FC season on and I came across 2015–16 Bengaluru FC season. I remember the work you put in to try and get it to Good Article and was wondering if we could work together to get it up to featured article status? I'm going to start doing some work on it and looking through the complaints from the last FA review and see what we can work on for now. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 16:46, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- @ArsenalFan700: YOU SON OF A B***H, I AM IN! While you are at it, can you also do a peer review of 2016-17 and 2017-18 season for GA? Coderzombie (talk) 07:48, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
DYK for The Ickabog
On 7 July 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Ickabog, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the "lost manuscript" of The Ickabog was featured on the dress worn by J. K. Rowling at her 50th birthday party? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Ickabog. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Ickabog), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I-league
Hi.
- i changed "Average home attendances" to attendance, since it not only shows the average but cumulative, high, low.
- i changed it to list, since the 19-20 article is also list. ❯❯❯ S A H A 15:35, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- @ArnabSaha: 2019-20 might be mistakenly tagged as a list, but a season page wouldn't classify as a list, because it covers the summary of the whole season it's not just a list. Coderzombie (talk) 16:18, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Coderzombie, ok i see... i changed the 19-20 also. ❯❯❯ S A H A 16:21, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Should there be a new page
I think there should be a page for the records and stats of Bengaluru FC.The one that I created has been moved to draftspace. Shahoodu (talk) 03:53, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Jumping in here because this is on my watchlist. Sure, why not? Bengaluru have been around long enough that they can get a page like that. We could help with it before having it published. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 03:56, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
AFD
Hi, article creators are free to vote at WP:AFD but their arguments are often given less weight by the closer, as per Help:My article got nominated for deletion! regards Atlantic306 (talk) 00:09, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: That's why I mentioned that their comments should be weighed in. Coderzombie (talk) 07:31, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Kickstart FC
Although they play in BDFA super division They also have a women's team which play in Indian IWL Also their are articles about Clubs which play only their state leagues So this page should not be deleted Shivsa008 (talk) 12:17, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Shivsa008: Yes, you can create an article about Women's team, because they play in IWL, so they are notable, but men's team is not notable. Kickstart FC (Women) is fine. Coderzombie (talk) 14:33, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
What about already created articles about less known teams? Shivsa008 (talk) 16:50, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
Review
Hello Coderzombie. Previously, you reviewed my two page Gujarat Literature Festival & Vijaygiri Bava. Thanks for that. I recently created Kaushambi Bhatt and Kalapi (film), Can you please review it, if it is suitable for Wikipedia.? I am not much familiar with Wikipedia's policy and guideline. I am presently working on Draft:Gujarati Iconic Film Award. Is this award's article suitable for Wikipedia? I noticed that many wiki pages related to Gujarati cinema mention this award's name. Thanks. Imfarhad7 (talk) 19:59, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Imfarhad7: GIFA is not very notable awards in my opinion. Coderzombie (talk) 05:21, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

West Block Blues
I was requested to make the change by a contributor. There is no need to be aggressive - I simply didn't know there had been a deletion discussion, nor are the two things mutually exclusive - I didn't delete anything. Deb (talk) 09:41, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- How on Earth do you think it's rival fans? Vendetta? I technically think it's the right thing to do, it was originally created as a content fork, yet the AfD and Merge failed to sort out the issue. It's a pathetic article which lacks notability outside of the subject. Govvy (talk) 10:39, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- I have to agree with Govvy about the quality of the article, but I would emphasize that he had nothing to do with the request. I do believe a redirect works much better, but I'm not going to be the one to make a formal proposal. Deb (talk) 11:13, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
