Functional organization
Appearance
Functional organization is a type of organizational structure that uses the principle of specialization based on function or role.
It allows decisions to be decentralized since issues are delegated to specialized persons or units, leaving them the responsibility of implementing, evaluating, or controlling the given procedures or goals.
The basis of a functional organisation is specialisation. Work is carried out on a functional basis and each function is carried out by a specialist. The ideal situation in such an organisation would be when each person performs a specified function only. This removes the staff personnel from his assisting capacity and gives him authority and responsibility for supervision and administration.
