Criticism of Linux
Appearance
There exist several criticisms of the Linux operating system. In their 2004 Marketing campaign Get the facts Microsoft alleged that the total cost of ownership of Linux is higher than Windows.
Linux's intellectual property protection has been criticized. Microsoft claims that "Linux and other open-source software vendors provide limited, if any, indemnification coverage."[1]. Linux vendors IBM and Novel are involved in a series of legal disputes with UNIX vendor SCO in what are known as the SCO-Linux controversies over intellectual copyright infringement.
