Signal element

Signal Element: A part of a signal that distinguished by its:

• duration,
• magnitude,
• nature (the modulation technique used to create the element),
• relative position to other elements,
• transition from one signal state to another.

An example can be demonstrated in digital radio modulation where a signal element is the transmission of a binary digit (bit) of data.
