Data for Progress (DFP) is a progressive think tank, polling firm, and political advocacy group founded in 2018 by political activist Sean McElwee, computational scientist Colin McAuliffe, and political scientist Jon Green.[1][2]
Polling
Topics of polling conducted by Data for Progress include Social Security funding[3], the United States Postal Service[4], environmental policy[5][6] (including the Green New Deal[7][8]), proposals for Medicare for All[9], pharmaceutical drug pricing[10], capping credit card interest rates[11], reallocating funds appropriated to the defense budget to domestic services[12], North Korea–United States relations[13], environmentally sustainable housing[14], and the Authorization for Use of Military Force.[15]
Data for Progress regularly conducts election polling, especially for primary elections. In the 2020 race for New York's 16th congressional district, Data for Progress was the sole public pollster to show challenger Jamaal Bowman lead incumbent Eliot Engel.[16][17][18]
Projects and research
Data for Progress is credited in The Atlantic with releasing one of the first reports on the Green New Deal[19]. Data for Progress has released numerous reports on housing policy[20], including on green housing[21].
