A Platoon Sergeant in the Singapore Armed Forces context, refers to Sergeants who are in charge of an entire platoon, compared to section commanders who are only responsible for the management of a section within any given platoon. Platoon Sergeants serve as a "bridge" between the Platoon Commander (a post usually held by junior officers) and the rest of the platoon, since the Platoon Sergeants would be the ones to lead any given platoon directly.

In a given platoon, they may be more than one Platoon Sergeant.

The post of Platoon Sergeant can be given to Specialists, although it is extremely unlikely to find a person ranked Staff Sergeant and upwards, holding such a post.
