About

The quick template tool allows you to quickly add canned messages to a userpage

How to make your own template packs

  • You can create and modify packs by clicking "create new" or the pencil icon in the quick template screen
  • Once finished, you can publish by using the "manage publishing" button. You can also use this to update published scripts.

Shortcuts

Quick templates fully support Wikitext, but extend on this by offering additional user input and setting detailed below. Just add this text in your template:

  • <!-- ##RW UNDERDATE## --> - tells RedWarn to place this template under the current date header, like a notice
  • {{subst:BASEPAGENAME}} will produce the username of the target user (will show as "API" in previews)
  • See also: WP:VAR - these are also supported.

Quick template syntax examples

Under date example

<!-- ##RW UNDERDATE## --> [[File:Information black.svg|24px]] '''Please do not''' add cool different coloured icons to pages, because they look far too cool! ~~~~

produces:

May 2020

Please do not add cool different coloured icons to pages because they look far too cool! Ed6767 (talk) 17:46, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to install template packs

Find a template pack listed at the bottom of this page, then copy the "pack code" to your clipboard. Open RedWarn preferences and open the "behavior" tab and click "install from pack code" under the "extensions" heading. You can then follow the on-screen instructions.

Once a pack is installed, you can use the quick template feature to apply that template to a users talk page.

Updating

If a pack creator has updated the pack, to update, open the quick template editor and delete the current pack, then reinstall it.

List of Quick Template Packs

Attention: Please only add template packs from authors you trust. When installing template packs, you give the installer the same access to your account that a userscript does, i.e. full account access. Template packs are the responsibility of the pack creator, not RedWarn.
