Background

  • It was unaltered from — What was unaltered?
  • mandatory attack-mode activation zone — What's that?
  • the timing loops — What are those?

Practice

  • The first sentence of the second paragraph is confusing, and a bit of a run-on; splitting it in two might clear things up.

Qualifying

  • Saturday's 75-minute afternoon qualifying session was divided into two groups of five cars and two groups of six entries — "entries" means "cars" also? If so, I think it's clearer if you just say "two groups of five cars and two groups of six."
  • he was the fastest driver in the first sector — What's the first sector?
  • Buemi led the second session with Piquet joining him in the top six — What position was Piquet?
  • Inconsistent capitalization of Super Pole/super pole.

Race

  • Each driver was mandated to activate the attack mode system twice — Were they required to use it twice, or simply permitted to use it up to twice?
  • Vergne lunged at Bird — "lunged" sounds odd.
  • without losing a large amount of time during activation — How would attack mode cause one to lose time?
  • on the straight linking turns turn and eleven — Something's off here.
  • he fell to seventh behind López on the next lap — Who fell to seventh?
  • All drivers, except for Sims and di Grassi, activated their second attack modes three minutes later in anticipation the safety car would be withdrawn later than planned than had been anticipated by the remainder of the field. It proved to be so as the safety car stayed on the track until 20 seconds were left and Sims and di Grassi used their second attack modes beforehand. — This is somewhat confusing (why would they activate the attack mode while the safety car was on the track? Wouldn't they not be able to benefit from it?) and needs some revision (e.g., "than planned than had been anticipated").
  • Was the race scheduled to last for a certain amount of time (e.g., a 30-minute race), or laps (e.g., a 20-lap race)?

Post-race

  • d'Ambrosio on 48 points — The charts say he added 25 points to make 40.
