C-4 Protective Mask

The C-4 Protective Mask was a gas mask that was in use by Canadian Forces. It is NATO's lightest CE approved gas mask, the C4 is a negative-pressure, full-face respirator with an ergonomic butyl face piece designed for challenging operations and activities. With its stretch-fabric head harness and two simple adjustment pull straps, the C4 respirator is easily donned and doffed. It has non-fogging, fragmentation-proof polycarbonate lenses providing outstanding peripheral and ground visibility. The Canadian Forces C-4 Protective Mask had been determined to be more than optimal in its performance in the field, before subsequent replacement in 2019 by the Airboss design.[1]
Airboss Low Burden Mask
In 2019, it was replaced by the AirBoss Defence Low Burden CBRN Mask.[2] The mask is similar in appearance to the M50 joint service general purpose mask, which is currently used by the US military, but is not identical.
