The C-4 Protective Mask was a gas mask that was in use by Canadian Forces. It is NATO's lightest CE approved gas mask, the C4 is a negative-pressure, full-face respirator with an ergonomic butyl face piece designed for challenging operations and activities. With its stretch-fabric head harness and two simple adjustment pull straps, the C4 respirator is easily donned and doffed. It has non-fogging, fragmentation-proof polycarbonate lenses providing outstanding peripheral and ground visibility. The Canadian Forces C-4 Protective Mask has been determined to be more than optimal in its performance in the field.[1]

In 2019 it was replaced by the AirBoss Defence Low Burden CBRN Mask.[2] The mask is similar in appearance to the M50 joint service general purpose mask used by the US military, but is not identical.
